Trimming a rubber tree is like pruning most other woody type trees. You will need a good sharp pair of pruning shears and cut at the node which is where branch comes off the stem. Pruning your rubber tree like this will help maintain healthy consistent plant growth. You should prune the rubber tree when you feel it is necessary.

To trim a rubbee tree plant start by deciding how much smaller you want the plant. Simpy start by clipping from the top down and start with the big leaves.

It can be done anytime but late spring is usually best. Use clean, sharp shears, wear gloves to keep the sap from your hands. Cut just above the nodes.

Use clean pruning shears when pruning your tree. You typically want to trim roughly 1/3 of the tree but be careful not to cut too many leaves.

Rubber tree plants are planted leaving a distant space in between, and as they grow into trees, their growth are to be regulated by trimming as it also promotes healthy growth.
