All the baby does when it drops is show a signal that it is ready to be delivered. Once the baby drops it can still take a while before you go into labor. It is absolutely noting to panic about but get the bags ready.

The baby dropping (at any week of pregnancy) is a sign that he or she is preparing for birth. However, this can happen days or even a week or two prior to actual delivery. At week 37, most babies are technically considered full term, and labor wouldn't be stopped. It could very well mean that labor/delivery is imminent! Best wishes!

They say that a pregnancy is about 40 weeks but really anything after 37 weeks is considered to be full term. The baby usually drops a few weeks before delivery.
