In ancient Latin, all consonants are pronounced harshly. For example, the letter "C" is pronounced like "K" in English. The biggest exception to this is that the letter "V" is pronounced like an English "W. " Vowels are pronounced as follows: "A" like "ah;" "E" like "eh;" "I" like "eee;" "O" like "ouh;" and "U"like "uuu. " "Ae" is pronounced "eye. "

JUst that a great deal of our language is based on much of the latin language. Many of the roots in the english language are Latin based. For example mono means one.
