What can you tell me about a Craftsman mower's transaxle repair?

The transaxle on a Craftsman is not only expensive to replace(comparable to replacing the mower!!)but it is really not an end user job, as you need special tools and guages. It is a sealed unit.

sometimes it is easier to replace the transaxle unit instead of repairing it. the parts could cost as much if not more than the whole unit.

Transaxle repair requires special tools and parts. Take your mower to an authorized Sears/Craftsman dealer, or to a certified small equipment repair dealer if a Sears store is not nearby.
