White roses generally symbolize purity, and may be an appropriate gift to represent a platonic relationship. Light, pale colors stand for friendship, especially when there are several colors in one bouquet. Pink roses mean grace and admiration, orange stands for desire, red, of course, for love.

In my opinion, I think people believe red roses mean love and yellow means friendship and, of course, black means death.
