The dangers of electricity are many and unfortunatly many people take it for granted. Electic shock is the greatest danger, followed by fire. Just because something works doesn't mean that it is free from hazard. If there is any doubt hire a licenced electican, they are trained in the latest codes to keep you safe.

Depends on the volts and amps. High voltage tends to be more painful (such as lightning strikes) while high amps are the part that kills you.
