Geraniums are sturdy flowering plants that bloom all year round if the weather is warm. They need to be watered probably once a week, and they need sun. I remove the flowers that are past their prime, and drying leaves so there is more energy for new blooms.

To get your geraniums to bloom, be sure to cut the old blooms off after they fade (or die). When you do this, the plant won't take its time and energy to create its seeds, which delays the blooming cycles. Otherwise you could end up with only two blooming times, depending upon your climate.

Geraniums should be planted outdoors where they can get six to eight hours of sunlight daily. Fading blooms and browned leaves should be promptly cut off to encourage new blooms. Feed plants with 10-10-10 fertilizer twice a month during growing season. They bloom better in well-drained soil.
