I would look into hardscaping projects, which would include creating beds made out of E.P. Henry products. I would plant smaller shrubs near the house. These would include azaleas and fire bushes. Having plants that bloom will make your home more inviting. I would also plant annuals near the driveway, and make certain the beds are mulched.

A lot of this answer would depend on your climate, soil type etc. A great all purpose solution is using hardy, decorative shrubs like yew and quince, beds of easy care plants like day lilies and hosta, an attractive seating area with crushed stone and hardy, fast-germinating lawn seed.

My ideal front yard is an ocean view facing where the sun sets. From the residence and before the ocean a 20 meters ground planted with Bermuda grass.

Depending on the neighborhood and the surrounding of your new house, you can embellish with things such as fountains or benches. If this is not acceptable you can plant flowers, trees and just make it look clean cut (don't forget to cut the grass).

You can never go wrong with adding beautiful flowers that will come back, year after year, like perennials and roses. Hedge bushes are easy to maintain yet they are bulky and will take up a lot of room so your yard will not look as bare.

The thing that works the best is to mix green foliage with flowers of different putting the tallest next to the house and cascading them forward.

In most houses I have seen, the people that have big yards tend to use the direct front of their house for flowering and gardening, and then use the rest of the lawn for green grass, and maintain it. Most of them use it to play in the summer

Some things you can do are plant some trees and make flower beds around them or you can put fake deer in your yard. It is basically whatever you have a taste for but a magazine I would recommend for that is country living and that would be able to give you some more ideas.
