If you go to Walmart, they normally have a section of games that are dirt cheap. These are normally under $10. Choose something your son would like.

Some cheap games for the PS2 are pretty much every game made before around 2006 or so. More than likely, all PS2 games should fall into this category since PS3 games have been around for around 4 years now. I suggest Final Fantasy.

For a boy I would recommend buying Grand Theft Auto: San Adreas, and Call of Duty 2 for well rate action games on the ps2 console. Most PS2 games are now extremely cheap ($5-$15). Look for bargains on eBay

Without knowing the genre of games that are liked, I cannot give any specific game names. But you can always search on Ebay and Amazon and find items cheaper. Also, a search on google for Discount PS2 will give result of some discounts of 85% - 95%.

Some really cheap games for the Playstation 2 are: ratchet and clank, Jak and daxter, need for speed carbon and most of the games by SEGA.
