car repairs

Question by  L (134)

My Chevy will not go in reverse, can you help me troubleshoot my transmission?

I have having transmission issues in my Chevy.

First, check the fluid level and filter condition. If that checks out ok, flush the entire tranny system. Lastly, take it to a shop. Internal parts may have been broken inside the tranny.

Transmission repairs and replacements can be very costly. As first step, check fluid level and consistency (should be fairly runny without noticeable particles). Next, request (free) estimate from certified mechanic.

I have a 1998 Dodge ram that I have owned for about a year. Today I was able to back out of my drive way no problem. At lunch however I could not back up, it does not move. It will engage the gear to reverse but will not move.
