It is okay to use starch with a clothes steamer?

I used it several times and my steamer went okay. But the seller said that in the long term it will damage (because the internal part will corrode) your steamer. My suggestion is to use starch plus iron instead of starch plus steamer if you really really need to stiffen your garments.

I don't think you should use the starch with clothes steamer. I reckon it might smell bad so don't use it.
