SpongeBob is not gay in the sense that you have applied.He is quite happy and stays positive no matter what happens in his life.He is portrayed as tolerant and caring.

The show has not written Sponge Bob as a homosexual, so he is not gay. It seems that you are using gay as a negative descriptor - many people find that offensive and you should not do that. Gay has a specific meaning and it is not a negative one.

I think he is not gay, he is just being a hippie in order to amuse children as well as their parents
