An older gentleman or an older lady for that matter, can wear whatever they want. They have earned it. It might not look fashionable, but many older people do not pay attention to details like that. They want to be comfortable most of all. Nothing wrong with that.

Opinions on this subject are likely to vary widely, but in my opinion it is perfectly ok to express your individuality by the way you dress at such an occasion no matter what others may think, and God will not smite you for it. Tolerance of individual styles is important.

Is it okay, well if that is what he wants to wear and he does not care about fashion then there is nothing wrong with it.
