Capitalism is an economic system whereby each individual is rewarded according to the quality and quantity of the work they produce. Ideally, incomes will reflect effort, however, this is not always the case.

In economics, capitalism is based of Marx's concept of an economy that is capital intensive, that is an economy that uses capital as a substitute for labor. The capitalist economy will exploit labor as it utilizes more capital.
