If I am someone who chooses not to vote in national elections it is because my single vote doesn't change the outcome. Or I don't really think I know enough about what the candidates really have to offer us.

In North Carolina, the list of registered voters contributes to the jury pool. After being called four times in the 1990's for jury duty (with wages lost for those days), I decided to stop registering to vote in 2000. I haven't been called for jury duty since.

People choose not to vote because they are indifferent or they have completely given up on our society. People often say that their one vote does not count and why should they bother voting since it will make no difference to them.
