It takes much longer for the active ingredient to be metabolized and taken into the bloodstream through absorption. There are so many different types and brands of birth control pills. The ingredients in each brand is determines the dissolve time. Also, depending on what is in a persons system will determine the time as well.

Once the birth control pill has entered the stomach, the natural acid environment together with the fluids already in the stomach will dissolve the pill entirely within 5 minutes.
