You train Tennessee Walkers in roughly the same way you train any other horse. It all depends on the individual personality of the particular horse.

The process starts at birth; you need to touch and train a foal to wear a halter and to be led. Then, later, you send the horse to be "broken" to be ridden; if you do not know how to do this, hire someone, as it could be very dangerous.

Tennessee Walkers are started in training just like any other horse. Once they are trained to carry a rider on their back the way they are trained differs according to what their purpose will be, ie. show, pleasure, trail, etc.
