There is a few books on the subject check out your local library. Go to ebay and see what the average value is there are also guide books there. Check it out with a local coin dealer or better yet go online to research.
You can check coin and antique collectors to check the value of your silver certificate. Also depending on the year of the certificate and how many are actually in circulation will increase/decrease the value respectively.
