A tomato plant needs root to grow. It cannot be grown just with branches. May be growing with branch is possible with advanced tissue culture. However not sure!

I was shocked to find out this was possible, but you just cut a good piece of a tomato plant branch and let it soak in water. Roots will slowly develop, but you'll have to change the water often to prevent root rot. Once roots are well established, plant it.

It is very simple. Bury one side of the stem in the ground and let the other end be filled with cow dung. The tomato plant will grow again. If you got the root branch, bring some of the soil where it was already growing is necessary, for the plant grow.
