To french braid hair, you basically start at the top of your head and grab a section at the top, then divide it into three parts. Start braiding and then each time you get to the next layer of hair, pick up more hair to add to each of the three sections.

Pull up hair from the crown, divide into three pieces and overlap hair about three times. Grasp the braided hair with one hand, and with the free hand gather more hair from both sides of head. Braid and repeat this procedure until you are done.

To french braid hair means to braid it starting up along the head, adding hair as you move down the scalp. The technique takes some practice because you do need to have good control of the tension on the hair.

French braiding your own hair can be really tricky. It might be better to have a friend do it. But if you really want to do it yourself, start at the crown of your head and begin braiding. Each time you bring a section of hair over, incorporate more hair with it. Keep the braid tight!

The way that I have learned to frenc briad hair is to start with normal braiding close to scalp then when the braid gets bigger then you grab more pieces of hair to add with the regular braid. That incorporates all the hair and makes a french braid!

Start at top with three strands, every time you flip you add more hair to the strand on both the left and right sides of your braid.
