Try eating raw broccoli, peanuts, whole wheat bread, cooked spinach, soy milk, tofu, or halibut. Also look for cereals that are rich in and fortified with magnesium.

Aside from multivitamins, you can get extra magnesium by eating green vegetables like spinach, okra, and broccoli. Choose whole grain breads and cereals rather than processed ones, as the processing strips the magnesium from them. Many seafood items are rich in magnesium, including halibut, raw oysters, rockfish, and scallops. Peanuts and black beans are another good choice.

The best way is not to take more magnesium but to decrease decrease magnesium depletion. This is accomplished by reducing calcium supplementation. Also reduce sugar in the diet. Do not take any prescription medication. Reduce stress, eliminate alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, and sodium. Also you must keep a healthy thyroid function.

Leafy vegetables, beans, nuts, whole grains, fish, and tofu are all good sources of magnesium. In some places, plain tap water is also a good source.

Green vegetables such as spinach are high in magnesium. Broccoli is good and black beans are very high in magnesium. Halibut, nuts, scallops, tofu and soymilk are good. Pumpkin seeds are high in magnesium too so munch on some of those.
