How do you figure out square feet for flooring?

Flooring professinals will generally measure an area and determine square footage by not just measureing the actual area but by also adding in an additional percentage for waste. Commonly, ten percent is the factor used, but may vary depending on the products being installed on the floor.

You use a tape measure and find out the area of each room. Add each rooms total and allow a little for waste.

Measure length and width of the place and multiply length with width for getting the area of floor. for getting correct quantity, add 10% of total area extra for damage and cutting waste. The tile layer will tell you the laying charge per sft. and multiply the total area with laying charge per sft. You will get the total cost.
