Gardenias need a sunny location and prefer temps. in the 60s. They have to be watered the correct amount. The water around the base needs to remain moist and have good drainage. Watering with rain water is better than soft water. They also require acidic fertilizers.

Use a good mix of soil that will allow the water to drain off fairly quickly. Never leave roots standing in water. Water about once a week or when the soil has dried out. A fertilizer for Azaleas will make them happy. The pots can be put outside during the summer, but be sure to bring in before the frost.

THose are not hard to care for.Make sure, though, that the pot is large enough for the plant,or else it will get rootbound and watering won't do any good.

Place in a sunny window. Keep soil moist, but not soaked. When repotting, use an acidic fertilizer mixed with peat moss. If plants grow leggy, prune lightly. Try to use rain water when watering the plant.
