You will have to build it not on the vehicle. You will need to do it in a clean environment, like you were working on a transmission. There can be no contamenants get inside the differential when you are rebuilding it. Once you have all the gears installed, fill it with fluid, then you can install it on the vehicle.

begin by removing the rear differential from the driveshaft and axles. Once the differential pumpkin is out remove the gears, replace with new and fill with diff fluid once re-installed.
