Many people collect Beanie Babies and the old ones that are no longer in production are sometimes sold for a very high price. Other factors that affects the price are the condition of the doll and whether it has any productions flaws (which can both increase or decrease the value, depending of the flaw).

I would assume that Beanie Baby pricing works much the way any other collectible's pricing works. Supply and demand. If there are a ton of one, or they are not very popular, they have a lower value. If there are only a few, or very popular, they have a higher value.
