Chlorophyl in the leaves uses sunlight to take carbon dioxide from the air and make sugar. That is what trees use to build themselves, flower, and reproduce.

Plants absorb the nutrients from the soil and water. However, all plants must have sunshine to survive and to grow. Plants need all three soil, water and sunshine to be able to grow big and maintain healthy growth. If plants do not receive enough of all three they will not be able to grow properly.

Plants start as seeds. Once they are planted in soil and are watered, the seed sprouts. The sprouts reach towards a light source. Watering them regularly promotes growth.

Well plants go through a process called photosynthesis. You may google that if you need some details. But to tell you the truth plants just need water, soil and oxygen to grow. Sunlight also helps. When the plant takes in carbon dioxide and breathes out oxygen it has a tendency to grow.
