You should have either a tensioner that you can tighten with a 3/8" ratchet or a screw/bolt on a separate pulley could also be a bolt on your alternator.

Every serpentine belt I have serviced has had a belt tensioner. Once the belt is installed, the tensi0oner tightens the belt. If the belt is properly installed, check to make sure that the belt is the right length. Also check that the belt tensioner moves freely.

Without knowing exactly what make, model and year your vehicle is I can't give an exact answer. Most serprntine belts have a belt tensioner and tighten themselves. Loose means replace.

Well actually there should be no need to tighten a serpentine belt. There should be an automatic tensioner to keep it snug. However it the belt is loose then it may need replaced or it might have gotten stuck. Your belt may also have stretched and may be causing the slack.

You cant tighten a serpentine belt . on most newer cars and trucks there is a pulley that does it for you .And if it dont then there is a problem with it .You could try putting WD-40 on it to loosen it up so it can do its job
