The first digit after the decimal point is reserved for tenths, the second place for hundredths, the third place for thousandths, and the fourth for ten thousandths. Hence, 0. 3 is three tenths; 0. 03 is three hundredths; 0. 003 is three thousandths; and 0. 0003 is three ten thousandths. What is 0. 0007? If you said seven ten thousandths, you are right.

Thousandths occur in the third position to the right of the decimal point, and Ten Thousandths occur in the next position to the right, the 4th digit. The 'ones' digit of the number of thousandths or ten thousandths goes in this place, with 'tens' digits, etc. , being written farther to the left (so 2/1000 is. 002 but 34/1000 is. 034).
