How do I know if my well pump is bad?

At first the pump will get erratic and not pump as well as it should. Gradually it'll pump less and eventually not pump at all.

Normally your water pressure will begin to drop or you may not have any water at all. Listen to where the pump connects to check for any strange noises.

The most obvious sign that your well pump needs to be fixed is when water is coming out slowly or not at all. Depending on where you live, this could mean the water froze or dried up. The sound which the well pump produces can give you a good indication whether or not it's building up to that point.

Generally, when a pump goes bad but still works, it will produce a sound. Other indications of a bad pump are low water pressure or no water pressure at all.
