Using Clorox bleach and making sure counters and floors are washed regularly helps control them. Make sure your dishes are washed and sink is clean. Whole cloves repels ants; you can sprinkly them around the infested spaces. Baits containing boric acid will take care of the problem, also. Terro makes ant baits, among others.
keep the kitchen floor clean, disburse the wastes every day, store sugar items in a air tight container, use ant pesticides and don't keep the sink dirty.
Firtsly you should keep your kitchen clean and dry and wash the dishes often. The best way to kill sweet ants is to use sweet baits. It is non-toxic to humans, but anyway don't use large amounts of it.
One can get rid of sweet ants by spray of salt, water, black pepper, kerosene oil, tarpene oil, vinegar etc. on the sweet ants and they would surely go away from the place.
