Snowshoeing can be done in any public park or woods where there is snow on the ground. Just be sure not wander into private property (unless you have permission). Snowshoeing is also tiring so make sure that you have a route planned and don't get lost, otherwise you could get stuck.

make sure you have a gps or are good at orienteering. if it starts to snow, and your tracks get covered, you might not be able to get back!

Wherever you decide to go, be careful not to cross frozen lakes - the ice might be thin and falling into a frozen lake is not very fun.

I would look at the library or bookstore for books on snowshoeing. You may even find some that would tell you of the degree of difficulty of the trails. Another good place to look would be on the internet. The U.S. Forest Service has many trails for snowshoeing and would also tell you the the degree of difficulty.

Well if you have your own snowshoes, just head to Northern Lower Michigan this year and you will find an abundance of places to snowshoe. For an example, in the Traverse City area, you can simply grab your snowshoes and head out to the local and State Parks. You may also check with any local ski shop for more specifics.

If you don't have Internet access then just call the nearest winter outfitter or sports shop in your town and they will be happy to recommend some local trails.
