You can look up moving comapanies in the phone book. Depending on what you are moving - you can always contact a realtor as they should have good contacts on people to move items. Assisted living communities often have a relationship with movers in the area that are looking at doing smaller amounts of items too.

You can check your local supermarket bulletin board for several of these companies. You may also look in local laundromats that have bulletin boards. These companies are dying for business and will do the job a lot cheaper that big companies.
