You can buy a dvd recorder that will take the signal from your vcr and record to a dvd then transfer to a computer. Another option is to connect your vcr or camcorder to a computer equipped to a computer with a video capture card then record to the pc.

You'll need a computer that is capable to process video (for example a PC with at least 1. 5 MHz processor and a DVD burner). You'll need also an analog-to-digital converter, A/V cables and editing software. Companies like Pinnacle and Canopus make converters. If the converter isn't sold with the cables, buy them too. Then, just follow the device guide.

Buy a vcr dvd recorder dual deck and copy the vhs tapes. That's the easiest way to do it yourself. You can have a service do the copies for you to. They charge quite a bit to do it approximately $20 per VHS tape but you get professional copies and extra little services like titles and a nice printed cover.

Safest option is usually getting a VHS converter for your PC. Then from there you can choose the formatting for the video, generally you want to render it into NTSC as its the most widely readable. Then put it on DVD or save it as a copy.
