How do I check a car registration?

I want to make sure I am not buying a stolen car.

You could check with your local tag agency, tax collector, or even law enforcemnt agency. Any or all of these should be able to help.

See that the VIN matches the number on the seller's title and also be sure that the VIN plate has not been altered.

The best thing to do is to check the vin number and make sure they match. Also you can have the guy go to the title beareau with you.

The easiest way to find that out is to ask your local police to run the VIN or you can pay for a carfax report that would tell you that.

Well start by getting the vehicles VIN. This is what will be used to identify the car so make sure it has not been replaced or modified. You should then be able to contact your local Police department or DMV and have them check the VIN. They should be able;e to tell you if it has been reported stolen.
