The GED consists of 5 sections: Math, Social Studies, Reading, Science and Writing. Each section has a maximum score of 800. To pass the GED, you must have a minimum score of 410 on each section, with an overall average of 450 for each section.

There are five sections on the test: language arts/writing, math, social science, science, language arts/reading. A minimum score of 410 is required in each section AND a minimum score of 2250 overall. It is possible to score more than 2250 total on all five sections, but not pass. So the score for each section is important.

Each of the 5 GED tests requires you to have a passing rate of 60%. The minimum score for each test is 200 and the maximum is 800 so you will need at least 410 on each test and an overall score of 450.

Because it encompases the knowledge gained in traditional school, the GED is comprised of the standard basic topics: writing, literature and the arts, science, mathmatics and social studies. Each section is assigned a point value equaling a total point value for all of 4000 points.

That is an interesting question. I have never taken the GED test nor do I work in the field of education so it would be rather difficult answering this question but I'll give it a shot. I would think the final score is an average of all the subjects included within the exam.
