No, if you collect your food stamps the way they are sent you should be able to use them at qualified stores. Some food stamp systems though use an ATM like card to grant you stamps. In that case you would need to use a card. Make sure you know what you purchase ahead of time, to save time.

Most food stamps have developed into a new way of doing things now. They give you a card with your monthly spending allowance on it and when you go to the grocery store, you swipe the card, and it is like using a debit card. If you don't use all your money, it is still on the card.
