There are many books available for makeup application. "Sephora: The Ultimate Guide to Makeup, Skin and Hair from the Beauty Authority" contains plenty of appropriate advice. "Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual for Everyone from Beginner to Pro" is also somewhat acclaimed. Another is "Makeup your mind: Express yourself" By Francios Nars.

"Sephora: The Ultimate Guide to Makeup, Skin, and Hair from the Beauty Authority" is a great book about beauty tips for the face. I owned this book and found it very helpful. It tells you the dos and don'ts for certain types of skin. It gives you make-up tips, beauty tips, and mistakes of the beauty world.

Bobbi Brown has a few books out that are very good. Depending on your age, you can get her book for adult woman or for teenagers. There are different sets of tips depending upon what age bracket you fall into.
