Transmitting hepatitis C to an unborn baby while pregnant is not actually common, but can in fact happen. That risk is thought to be minimal.

There is a possibility that it can be transmitted since this type of diesease is highly communicable. But do not worry because there are already modern medicines now that can treat your baby after you give birth. Just inform your doctor so that you and your baby will be closely monitored during your pregnancy.

It is possible, but far from certain. In most cases, it does not happen. Babies from mothers with Hepatitis C are routinely tested, however, and occasionally infected.

Hepatitis C is less trasmitted so the risk is less. The risk of pregnant women passing the hepatitis C virusto her unborn child has been related to the levels quantitative RNA levels in her blood and also whether she is HIV positive. The risk of transmission to the baby is less than 0 to 18% if the mother is HIV negative
