I usually wait until the technology has come down in price.

Currently you can expect to pay around $150 dollars for a Blu-ray player. So unless you have a good HD tv then I wouldn't bother buying one. They will probably drop more in a few months anyway.

The prices keep going down. Anything from around 150 dollars to 200 dollars is a good price. That is low end but solid.
