Why would a three year old start cursing, spitting and hitting?

The kid is throwing a tantrum. Put the kid in time out and tell them it is not okay to do those things. Tell them to think about what they've done. When time out time is up, talk to them about what they did. Be consistent in punishing.

The kid might be watching too much television. Or the child could be exposed to an adult who acts in this way. Be firm with the kid so they stop acting up.
