After a D&C, a period of "pelvic rest" is ordered, usually four to six weeks. Birth control should be resumed when you start having intercourse. After a D&C, the body needs time to return to a normal cycle. Pregnancy, though not immediately recommended, is possible at any time.

Several reasons, the first because you do not want to get pregnant that soon after just having a baby. Also, the sperm are very acidic and may be an irritant.

You shouldn't have sex at all for about two weeks after the procedure is done or until you stop bleeding. A D&C is performed in because your body did not expel contents of the Uterus. Since a D&C is a minor surgical procedure it takes your body to heal. Another pregnancy could prevent any healing so you should use condoms.
