Why doesn't the cigarette lighter in my car work?

first check the fuse. pull the fuse from the main panel and check for a break in the fuse. If the fuse is ok the look underneath the dash and see if the wire to the lighter is still attached.

There could be a blown fuse. If you know where the fuse panel is on your car that would be the first thing to check. If its not the fuse i could only imagine it would be a wiring problem. If your not sure about self maintenance it should be easy for a mechanic to fix.
