An electric-powered car takes energy from a battery to drive electric motors connected to the wheels instead of a gasoline engine. The problem with electric cars is range. They run out of power quickly and take a long time to recharge. Some carry engines so they can recharge while driving.

Batteries are used to power an electric motor which propels the car. They haven't caught on because the have a very small range compared to gas cars and cost more.
