Why does my dog have dry flaky skin?

Dogs usually have dander that comes off, especially in the spring when they are "blowing" their coat, its nothing to worry about and can be controlled with bathing and brushing.

Dry skin can be caused from many problems such as allergic dermatitis, Mites, Thyroid levels and diseases such as Cushings. A visit to your Vet is highly recommended.

A lot of case, it could mean that the food he is eating is not a good quality food. Sometimes a good brand will keep their fur silky and beautiful.

Dogs have dry flaky skin due to different conditions, some may have allergies, others parasites and also psoriasas in dogs. There are various treatments for them, creams can be rubbed on them.If the condition is not reeated the dog may start to loose hair due to excessice scratching and abrasing the skin.
