You should take your cat the vet if she is coughing. Coughing could indicate a cold or some kind of respitory issues.

The main reason may be hairballs. If the cough lasts and no hairballs are produced, try giving some hairball medicine. If that does not work, consult a vet for examination.

Cats can cough for many different reasons. The most common is hairballs, does your cat groom itself constantly? That hair either has to pass through or get coughed up. More serious reasons are allergies (yes cats can develop allergies) or some type of respritory infection. If you cat is listless and weak take him/her to the vet.

Two things come immediately to mind, either an upper respiratory infection or feline asthma. While it may also be a hairball, the fact that the cat is doing it all the time e. g. more than once or twice, means it's likely more serious and requires veterinary treatment.
