Answer by  Huntress (1935)

Radon levels are high in various areas of the country. I was told when I lived in Denver that it was because of uranium in the soil and many people in Colorado blame Rocky Flats for the cause but that has never been scientifically proven that I know of.

Radon is a natural product of the decay chain of radioactive uranium. Soils containing granite have a higher concentration of uranium, which results in higher radon levels. Radon levels also depend upon variations in the rock structure, such as cracks, which allow more radon to seep through. Different structure types allow radon to accumulate at different rates.

It is because Boulder is made of Granite. Granite have a high amount of uranium than others. Uranium decays into radon. Radon will come out from the Boulder. So, boulder have high radon levels.
