This is a great field for anyone wanting to get working quickly. In most cases you can become an x-ray technician in two years at most 2 years colleges. Another benefit is after you start working the hospital you are working for may send you back for further education. Which means more money
Actually, the pay is not worth it. You will have to go to school for at least 2 years, then working in a hospital you will be working weekends, holidays, and double shifts. It is not fun and I do not reccomend being an x-ray tech if you want to have a life.
X-ray technicians have a variety of opportunities available to them. The average salary is excellent considering the fact that the profession only requires two years of college for certification. As with most healthcare professions, the demand exceeds the supply.
The pay for x-ray technicians is average. In some areas of the United States jobs are difficult to find and the technician must be willing to be flexible with their work schedule.
X-ray techs can make almost as much as an RN. In addition, you have a variety of settings to choose from when it comes to employment. Hospitals, doctor's offices, and sometimes nursing facilities hire x-ray techs. Unlike other positions within healthcare, you may have greater flexibility when it comes to working hours as well.
