If you use an old or a cheap quality bulb you will have this problem.some time the wiring system may be in fault. If you have current fluctuation bulbs will blink.Check the holders for loose contact. The switch box may be having the same loose contact problem.

If the lights sometimes blink, you may be overloading the circuits. There may be too many heavy duty electronic items on one electric line. Try unplugging some items and dispersing heavy duty electric items onto different lines.

most probably there is a loose wire connection somewhere in your lighting. This is something not to mess with. This could be potentially dangerous as it could ignite spark inside the walls and cause a fire. Orrrrrr...may be just a ghost! haha

There could be an electrical fault in the wiring to the lights. When light bulbs are at the end of their life they will flicker before they go out, then have to be replaced. Other than that your house is haunted.

All of those sound like legitimate possibilities. But if your whole house flickers, it could be realted to the service provided by your power company. They could be experiencing 'brown outs' or other interruptions which are common in some areas. They're also hazardous to your electronic components.
