The pointy teeth cut through the gums more easily. They also encourage mother dogs to wean the puppies at the appropriate time.

Puppy teeth are generally sharper than older dogs' teeth. This is because they are so young, and they are pretty much brand new teeth. it's much like a child...their teeth are smaller and sharper when they are younger, but as they grow older, their teeth grow bigger and flatten out a little bit so they aren't so sharp!!
