Who wrote the Bill of Rights?

George Mason is credited with actually writing the Bill of Rights. Thomas Jefferson is credited with thinking of the idea for a document to guarantee these rights. Most of the congress had input into the Bill of Rights.

James Madison,Fourth USA President, authored them. Over several years, while a member of Congress,he gathered together proposals from across the country and in 1791 the ten amendments became the Bill of Rights after they were ratified by Congress.

The Bill of Rights was written by the members of the first Constitutional Convention of the United States. This was a group of people, and most were also the authors of other important documents from that time, like the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution itself.
